Signs of a good palm reader or palmist are not hard to detect. The most important thing to remember is what to look out for good and bad. You are more likely to notice the things the reader is doing wrong rather than doing right. If you learn to look for these signals and red flags before entering a palm reading you should be fine.

[edit] What to stay away from in a palm reading

It is widely known that there are a lot of "fakes" out there in the world of palm reading and future predicting. The key is to learn to identify these fakes. Once you can do that you will know the real thing when you run across it. Not all palm readers are out to get you; some have good intentions but just misjudge their actual skill. These people will do the same things as an outright fraud, but they aren't as fast to bleed your pockets dry.

[edit] Warning Signs of a Fake:

  • If the palmist starts out making promises you have a problem on your hands. A true palm reader would absolutely under no circumstances guarantee their ability to predict your future. If this happens you are in the presence of a fraud.
  • Many unqualified readers will offer you many different types of readings rather than just a palm reading. These include astrology, tarot cards, crystals and even numerology. This usually means they are not focused on palmistry and therefore probably not qualified.
  • A fake will always try to con your out of money, so they will add extra fees to their services. This only holds true if you are dealing with a true fraud. They will often tell you they see something like an "evil eye" or a "curse" within your body and they will offer to remove it for a little extra money.

The warning signs are quite clear, but how can you be sure before the session even begins?

  • One of the best things you can do is ask questions! The first thing you should ask is what they specialize in. If they begin listing off several things, kindly walk out the door. If they only say palm reading they might be legitimate.
  • You should also ask the palmist what system of hand analysis they use. If they have a long drawn out explanation of a system they are probably a fake. True palm readers will mold each reading according to the persons needs.
  • Lastly, don't be afraid to ask for their background in palmistry and their credentials in the business. A true reader will have this information and will be happy to share it.

If you aren't confident that you can identify any palm reader's quality before the session begins, take a friend along. If they cannot help you recognize the warning signs then have them get a reading as well. If the palm reader reads the same lines for both of you such as head, heart, life, fate, health, marriage, and children, they are probably faking their skill. These are usually mentioned in this order as well.

Having your palm read can be an extremely exciting and touching experience. When dealing with a real palm reader it is not something to be dealt with lightly. Everyone has their own important reasons for wanting to know what their future might bring, so why risk messing it up? Knowing the warnings and the signs of a good palm reader will help you obtain a concise and accurate palm reading. If you are lucky enough to find a true and honest palm reader, stick with them! They are rare and very hard to find, especially in a world swimming with fakes and hopefuls.
