Use Discussion Pages on DiscoverPsychic
From DiscoverPsychic
Every DiscoverPsychic article has its own discussion page, where readers and editors can comment on articles. The primary purpose of discussion pages is to provide a forum that editors can use to discuss how to improve an article; they are also used as a forum to discuss nominations for deletion, title changes or other things relating to the article. This article will discuss how to effectively use discussion pages to help wikiHow in its mission.
[edit] Steps
- Click on the discussion tab at the top of the article page.
- Read the previous posts (if any). These posts should give you a sense of the current thinking about the article.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, write a thoughtful comment to guide future editors in improving the page and press post.
[edit] Tips
- Some templates can be used on discussion pages to communicate nominations for deletion, spotlight article selection, featured article selection, etc. A list of these template is available at DiscoverPsychic:Templates/Discussion
- Be bold. You are encouraged to edit the article rather than simply comment about an edit you think should be made on the discussion pages.
- Be civil. Even when you disagree strongly with other editors, try to make your comments on pages in a way that is kind and respectful .
- Vandals and other bad faith editors may occasionally leave insulting or offensive comments on the discussion pages. It is a good idea to ignore these comments; every response to comment trolls only serves to encourage them.
- Try to make your comments specific and constructive. It is much more helpful to write about potential questions or concerns and how they might be addressed than to simply criticize the content of an article.
[edit] Warnings
- Every post to DiscoverPsychic's discussion pages is reviewed by Recent Changes Patrol and read by other editors - don't post personal attacks or anything else on discussion pages you wouldn't be willing to share with the whole community.
