Ghosts, spirits, and paranormal activities are thrilling for some people, while for others, are chilling. Whatever bracket you belong to, you would have to agree that when such incidents happen, or are narrated, you feel intrigued to know the truth, to find out for yourself whether this is, indeed, true. There are many theories about the existence, behavior and interaction with ghosts as there is a list which describes the top most haunted houses in the world. Ten of the most famous worldwide ghost haunted houses are very briefly described below, not necessarily in any particular order of reference:
1. Borley Rectory (Essex, England) - This place is in Britain. It became world famous because of the many unexplained phenomena that took place mainly around 1920 to 1930. While scientists did their best to explain most of the haunted ghost stories, there is still a great deal that refuses to be rationalized.
2. The Walley House (California) - This is another one of the most famous ghost houses which gained popularity through the descriptions of the popular author, deTraci Regula, who mentioned that there have been sightings and unexplained behavior in and around the house.
3. Rayname Hall (Norfolk, England) – This is considered one of the more scary haunted houses in England. This has become famous because it has a photograph of the ghost which was haunting it. Astonishingly, somebody was capable of capturing the photo of Brown Lady coming down the stairs and she made a wonderful picture.
4. The Myrtles Plantation, Louisiana (USA) - Originally built in 1796 and called Laurel Grove, it is well known to be one of the famous haunted houses in USA. The ghost here is one slave by the name Cleo, which is part of an entourage of about 10-12 other ghosts. It looks like this house has a very sinister background of 10-12 murders.
5. The Eastern Penitentiary – This structure was designed in 1929 by the, then famous, John Haviland. It was inaugurated in 1829. Some reports have called this place one of the most malevolent of all the haunted ghost houses ever.
6. The Tower of London (England) - It is said that the ghost of the beheaded Ann Boleyn haunts the place looking horribly scary. The ghost of Ann usually carries her head under her arm while seeing the haunted floors and the rest of the tower.
7. Waverly Hills Sanatorium (Kentucky, USA) - This is touted to be one of the scariest and most malevolent places on earth. People encountered here all types of real and unexplained paranormal behavior. Horrible blood-curdling screams have been heard on the premises, as well as other types of voices.
8. The Queen Mary (California), USA – While this is not exactly a house, it is counted among the more scary haunted places around. This is a ship where a burnt sailor has made a home for itself and contains many haunted floors. There are unexplained voices of children and sounds of their taking baths in the pool, along with apparitions of a lady in white long flowing robes.
9. The White House - This is a famous house not only for being the President of the USA’s domain, but also an excellent ground for a good number of ghosts. Though not one of the scariest, this house has reported to sight a number of ghosts in and around the place.
10. The Edinburgh Castle (England) - This place is quite famous in Scotland and it attracts many tourists every year. Here you would find not only the general quota of ghost houses stories, but also see ghosts of animals. Among others, there are headless apparitions, war prisoners and even a dog's ghost have been sighted here on the haunted floors of this castle.
