The Holy Spirit Guide

To understand what the Holy Spirit Guide is, you have to understand what the Holy Spirit is and then how It guides you. While some people believe in spirit guides, Christians, followers of Christ, believe in just one. That one Guide is the Holy Spirit of God. It is considered as part of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. While these are all separately named they are all considered God - One entity.

The Holy Spirit is God in Spirit helping the person that It is with to stay on the path God has set before him or her. The Holy Spirit guides people toward what God asks them to do with their lives, which is to glorify Him.

[edit] Old Testament Holy Spirit

The Old Testament refers to the Holy Spirit, but in a different way than Christians view it today. The Holy Spirit was different before Christ. It was only given to certain individuals upon God's choosing. When the person received the Holy Spirit guide it was not a permanent adoption of God. It was given and taken away at God's choosing and God's will.

While not all of the New Testament talks about the Holy Spirit, once Christ was crucified the Holy Spirit guide became somewhat of an indwelling entity of God as Christ inside those who accepted what the Bible states of Jesus Christ being the Savior of the world. Immediately upon accepting Christ, that person would receive the Holy Spirit. There are some denominations of Christianity who feel that other things must be done in order to receive the Holy Spirit. But, most who call themselves Christians agree that the moment a person receives Christ as their Savior the Holy Spirit guides them throughout the rest of their lives.

For those who believe in the Bible as the Word of God and believe that it tells us how to live, the Holy Spirit is seen as the Spirit of God helping us to live that way. Some describe the work of God through this method as a gut instinct. Others say the Holy Spirit guides them through interactions with other people who are doing God's work. It is claimed that Angels have appeared in situations where people say they were not listening to the Holy Spirit and were caught in a dire situation. The angels, as some people have said, then help them out of that situation causing the person saved to listen closer the next time. People who have the Holy Spirit say it is like having a constant guardian helping them to make better decisions and choices. This Guardian is also somewhat of a counselor when the choice is not clear or we feel we are too weak to go on.

Whether the Holy Spirit works for God and by God through spiritual interactions, other people or just a gut feeling leading us in a certain direction, It is a guide that many say is worth listening to and having in their lives.
