[edit] The ideal Schools for Indigo children are at home
If you are a distraught parent or harried teacher struggling to cope with an exceptionally, talented, sensitive, creative and intuitive Indigo kid, there are various ways to deal with them without affecting the child's balance. Despite the fact that Indigo children traits can be difficult to deal with, a little kindness, patience and perseverance at home can go a long way to reassure them. Here's some useful advice that you may follow.
[edit] Consult experts when your child behaves abnormally
The problem is that you may not know why your child acts in a manner that's far different from other children. Reprimanding them, or questioning such behavior, may only exacerbate the problem. To learn more about how to approach such behavior, consult experts who are qualified in dealing with Indigo children. It would also be advisable to connect with other parents and teachers to share your frustration and successes and who may already be in regular contact with such children.
[edit] Let him dream if he doesn't want to play
Indigo children are highly intuitive and your kid may be no different. If your Indigo kid stays aloof while, other kids are at play, exercise patience and understanding. Left to his own devices, and unknown to you, he usually daydreams and schemes his way out of a situation, in this case, play. Do not attempt to question his aloofness or force him to play, this will only make him withdraw further into his shell. Respect his choice and feeling by reassuring him that it's okay with you, and gradually, he will join the others on his own accord.
[edit] Be subtle and patient when helping with schoolwork
One of the main Indigo children traits is their sensitive and perceptive nature. If dictated to, or taught in a strict manner while assisting them with schoolwork, such kids will easily feel insulted, patronized, uncomfortable or even overwhelmed. To get the best out of them, first focus your advice on feelings rather than facts, until you detect they are comfortable and only then, should you resume teaching them in a gentle and subtle manner.
[edit] Lend them an ear when you spot a frown
If you are observant, enough you will be able to recognize the emergence of emotions before they develop and become uncontrollable. At times like this, lend them a patient, attentive ear to try to decipher what they are trying to say. In many cases, such a response will enhance the general well-being of your Indigo kid and give him a sense that the world is indeed a safe and lovely place to be. Your continuous sympathetic and attentive gestures will reassure your child, build confidence and, as you will later discover, make him a happier child.
You can draw comfort from the fact that Indigo children traits are not symptoms of an incurable disease. The truth is, children displaying such traits, can be reformed with patience, kindness and a better understanding of why they behave the way they do. Such responses to your own child will help him to understand that his differences can be used in a constructive manner and help him to become a responsible citizen as he grows up.
