[edit] What are Prophetic Symbols?

It is said that the Bible, along with its main content, carries a lot of prophetic symbols. Many people believe that these symbols are in place to foretell future events, amongst other things, and that they have been chosen by God as a method to preserve the Bible. Some people compare these symbols of prophecy to say, a cartoon in the daily paper. Cartoons are a way of conveying modern messages through the medium of symbols, and in the same way, the Bible's prophetic meaning is a way of conveying messages.

[edit] What Prophecies Have Been Made?

The Bible has told of many prophecies. Prophetic meaning in the Bible has predicted such things as the second coming of Christ. Prophetic meaning has been drawn from not only the Bible, but from great philosophers. In the 16th century, a man known as Nostradamus predicted many things that have been known to come true in recent years. How could a man who died five hundred years ago know about events of the twenty first centuries, without these symbols?

[edit] What Did Nostradamus Predict?

There are many things that Nostradamus predicted five hundred years ago that have come true. These predictions have sometimes been more than symbols of prophecy, and in some cases, Nostradamus predicted the event to a great amount of accuracy. For instance, Nostradamus said, "The blood of the just will be demanded of London, burnt by the fire in the year 66". Does this ring any bells? How about the great fire of London… which happened in the year 1666? He also predicted the existence of Adolf Hitler, with the following verse:

"Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn
When the child of Germany observes nothing."

Some of Nostradamus' prophetic meanings have been interpreted to foresee the attacks on the World Trade Center. He spoke of "a great eagle" falling (an Eagle being a symbol of the USA), as well as "towers around the New City will shake".

[edit] What Prophetic Symbols are in the Bible?

The symbols of prophecy in the Bible are slightly different from the prophecies of Nostradamus. There are many things mentioned in the Bible that are representive of prophecies or concepts. Some of these symbols are outlined below.

• Horse: strength and power in battles
• Dragon: Satan, or his counterparts
• Lamb: Jesus, or a sacrifice of him.
• Horn: A king, or kingdom.
• Wings: Speed, protection, or deliverance to safety.

• White: purity
• Red: sin or corruption
• Purple: a mark of royalty

[edit] Prophetic Symbols in the Form of Nature

• Field: the world
• Thorns: cares of this life
• Fruit: actions or work
• Fire: the Holy Spirit
• Water: also the Holy Spirit, or an everlasting life
• Tree: people, or a nation

Studying these prophecies set forth so long ago can be not only entertaining, but enlightening as well. Spend some time with this part of history and see if you don't agree.
