The 'pet spirits' phrase might be sounding a little odd, however, everyone who ever loved a pet and enjoyed their amazing love would instinctively agree that it exists. In many cases, people are able to bond better with pets than with any other human being. They are animals, beings of less intelligence than humans are. However, if you had a pet, you would know how eloquent their eyes are; most pet owners would swear that they communicated with their pets through their eyes only. The connection is complete and without any words, you would know exactly what they wanted, and they too would know what you know.

It breaks your heart. There is no two ways about it; it completely plunges you into grief and you do grieve for them as you would for a family member because that is what they would become over time. At that time you start questioning yourself, are there pet spirits? Are there pet ghosts? When you hold the lifeless body of your beloved pet in your hands, and wish in your heart that it comes back to life and looks at you adoringly, you know what means the pain of having a dear one die. At that time, it would be so obvious that pets too have souls; pets too, have spirits and definitely, they too cross over to God's realm after death.

Many religions believe in reincarnation or the cycle of death and re-birth until you settle all your accounts (good deeds vs. bad deeds) here on the Earth. The belief is that if the person sins too much, it would not be allowed a human form for his or her reincarnation; rather they would come back as animals. Therefore, animals' souls too would be part of the Almighty God, just as that of human beings. Let us say that you do not endorse the concept of rebirth; even so, how can you deny that there are pet spirits and souls when you know that your pet was almost human in its behavior and love.

[edit] What does science say about pet ghosts?

There have been plenty of instances where ghosts of animals have been sighted. Sometimes, the animal would stay close to their owners, while sometimes they would haunt the place they lived in and behave as if they were alive. Science is silent when it comes to animal or pet ghosts, though it does agree that the same principle of life and death govern all life forms; therefore, if humans have souls, so would animals.

Actually, it remains to the psychic and animal intuitive to bring proof of the existence of such bizarre things. Very often, these animal intuitives do connect with pets and in the meantime, some amazing stories are born. With some exaggeration, the truth remains that pets do have souls - may they rest in peace - and that it is possible to contact and feel their spirits or ghosts if you want to, through the right medium. The question of where and how do their souls connect to the Almighty has many theories; however, the most straight forward one seems to be that they too are led to the light like humans, and when they reach there they are ecstatic.
