Past life investigations are a way of learning more about, not only yourself, but the people in your life as well. Learning about whom we were in our past lives, and what our relationships with certain people were, can tell us a lot of pertinent information about who we are today. This information can also help you learn the best ways to deal with the relationships you have now, as well as understand any fears you may have. These investigations can tell you specific events, people, and dates; On the other hand, they may only reveal vague bits of information, such as a general time frame of when you lived, and which part of the world you lived in.

Researching information about a previous life has been known to help people make decisions they were otherwise “stuck” on. Some people may find out that they were in a relationship with someone in a past life, and that person cheated on them. Their investigation may reveal that the person who cheated on them in a past life is a coworker in their current one, thus explaining why there has always been tension between the two people. Knowing this information, the person can then work on letting go of that subconscious hostility, in an effort to improve relations with the co worker. In other cases, a person might find that someone who was their brother in a past life is now someone they are dating. This can help explain why, even though the person has a deep love for their significant other, they can’t seem to get the relationship to progress. These are only examples; the pieces of information you learn, and are able to relate to your current life, vary endlessly. There is no telling what we will learn, or how it will help us, until we actually have our past lives investigated.

[edit] How do I do an investigation?

Past life investigations are typically done by those who are trained in the practice. There are hundreds of books available on this subject. However, doing a past life investigation on yourself is not recommended. When doing an investigation on yourself, there is a greater likelihood of personal agendas, fears, and desires getting in the way of seeing the truth. Instead, your findings may be biased, albeit unintentionally. Instead, it is recommended that you seek out someone who is highly experienced in the field. There are people all over the world (and some even online) who are very knowledgeable in what signs to look for, what to ignore, and how to interpret the information they find. Most of the investigation, however, is not done by searching facts, and various records. These experienced investigators cannot do the research completely on their own. They will be working side by side with you, as the most important part of the investigation involves meditation, and interpreting what your own mind shows you. Be it visions, scents, sounds, etc., your mind is able to unlock the secrets of the past. The trick is in learning to hear it.
