[edit] Introduction to Nostradamus and his prophecies
Nostradamus was actually named Michel de Nostredame, and lived from 1503-1566. He published a book of prophecies that have become famous due to their somewhat accurate nature. Most scholars agree that the reason his predictions are perceived as having come true is largely due to creative interpretation, and the fact that people like to believe that events were predicted long ago. Nostradamus has also been said to have predicted many different end of the world predictions, and all Nostradamus predictions have never been fully revealed until after an event has happened.
Events that Nostradamus has been accredited to predicting include such things as: the Great Fire of London, WWII, the takeover of Napoleon, and the attacks on the world trade center in 2001. Of course, most of these predictions were assigned and credited to him after they had occurred, making it doubtful that were necessarily meant for that event. Things can be interpreted in many different ways after the fact.
[edit] Nostradamus' Predictions for 2008
Supposedly, Nostradamus predicted 2008 as the beginning of the end of the world. This is one of they many end of the world predictions that have come out over the years, but, of course, it is impossible to know if it is true or not until after the time has passed.
There have been many different things that encompass the 2008 Nostradamus prediction. 2008 is supposedly a big year in his prophecies, leading up to some major things, including WWIII. Nostradamus has predicted such things as trouble among the presidential elections, the beginnings of war, and even some possible trouble with the Olympic Games.
What actions should be taken regarding these end of the world predictions?
Since it is impossible to know what will actually happen until it does, it is best to just wait and see, and not worry too much about these prophecies. All Nostradamus predictions have never been "proven" until after a major event, so it is impossible to know if he predicted them, or if someone just interpreted the information to fit what actually happened.
With this in mind, there is really no reason to look into these things very closely. All it will do is frighten the mind, or cause unnecessary worry. Even if the end of the world is approaching soon, what can you do about it? There is nothing that can be done to stop it if it is happening, so why worry? Just try to live as normal a life as possible, and leave the worrying to others. It won't do you any good. Furthermore, if the world doesn't end at these predicted dates, which is quite likely, then you will have wasted a great deal of time with worry.
All of the Nostradamus predictions are just like any other. There have always been reports that the end of the world is right around the corner, and none of them have been true yet. So it stands to reason that it is very likely that these predictions are untrue as well. After all, who really wants to know when and if the world is going to end?
