The moon does influence life on earth and people. In fact, those born in the sign of Cancer or those who are born during the period from June 21 to July 22 have moods that are directly influenced by the moon. They would be morose and introverted during the waning time and in high mood during the waxing time. The sea's tide too is influenced by the moon waning-waxing cycle and therefore, it is no surprise that there are many moon superstitions that talk about luck.

[edit] The good luck superstitions

1. Wish come true - it is believed that if you look at the new moon and wish on it, you would get your wish fulfilled within the year. At the same time, if you look at the new moon and look at the face of the person you love most, or a photograph of God, you would be protected from all bad luck until the next new moon time.

2. New moon on Monday - seeing the new moon on Monday would bring you good luck for the whole month.

3. Prosperity - if, when you catch the first glimpse of a new moon you have something (anything) in both your hands, then you would not want for anything during that month.

4. Marriage - if you pray to the new moon and walk backwards to your bed all the time holding the moon in your gaze until you reach your bed and close your eyes, you will dream about your would-be husband.

5. Curing light - warts which were (and are) seen as a great nuisance, are believed to fall off if you wash your hands in the moonlight.

[edit] The bad luck superstitions

Moon superstitions are very fascinating and diverse. There are as many bad luck superstitions about the moon as there are good. Here are some of the bad luck superstitions:

1. Hair cutting - you should not cut your hair while the moon is waning as this would mean losing your health and body vigor. If, on the other hand, you cut your hair during the waxing time, the effects on your health would be the opposite.

2. Moonlight - in ancient times, it was considered highly unlucky to sleep in the moonlight, as it was believed that moon takes over your mind during the night. It was believed that if you did sleep with the moonlight on your face, you would be struck by blindness or madness.

3. Bad luck - seeing the new moon for the first time through a window is considered to bring bad luck for the whole month.

4. Red moon - it was believed in the ancient days, that if you see the moon in a pink or red hue, it meant there would be a war with bloodshed.

5. Full moon superstitions - the night of the full moon was always believed to give powers to supernatural beings, such as werewolves, demons, and the like. This is why traveling on nights of full moon and on the day immediately following that was (and is in many places) still considered unlucky.
