Meaning of Cheating in Dreams
From DiscoverPsychic
The term cheating can mean on a sexual level or purely a dating level with no sexual intimacy involved at all. This depends on the individual and their idea of what cheating is exactly. Cheating in dreams can involve the dreamer or the person he or she is currently involved with, or considering being involved with. Cheating, on any level, can signify sexual addiction, problems with the relationship, problems with a possible future relationship, insecurity and self esteem issues as well.
[edit] Dream Scenarios
- You are cheating on a current spouse or significant other whether sexual or non-sexual in nature.
- Your spouse or significant other is cheating on you in a sexual or non-sexual nature.
- Someone you just met is cheating on you in a sexual or non-sexual nature.
- You are cheating on someone you just met in a sexual or non-sexual nature.
These are really the four basic dream scenarios when it comes to cheating.
[edit] Meanings
- If you are cheating on someone you know, it could be an indicator of a few things. You both may need to spend more time alone together to build the intimacy between you in a non sexual nature. Perhaps your spouse and you have not had the time to be sexually intimate with each other, and it is taking a toll on your relationship. It could also be that you don't feel worthy enough to be with your spouse or significant other, and therefore, feel you should just leave him or her to be with someone else.
- If you are cheating on someone you just met or have seen, it usually is associated with self esteem and insecurity issues on your part. You may think you're not good enough for that person, or are mad because they decided to date or marry someone other than yourself. If this is an issue you're having, it could be helped by opening up more to your spouse or significant other in ways you haven't done before.
- If your spouse or significant other is cheating on you in your dream, it most likely means you don't trust them to be faithful to you in one way or another. You may have to confront the issue of distrust in order to stop the dreams from occurring. This could also be a self esteem issue where you have been cheated on before, and now carry the assumption that it will just happen again and again. It helps to talk about it with the other person.
- If someone you just met or don't know very well is cheating on you, it could be a warning that this may not be the person you were meant to be with. There may be something they're hiding, or you could have trust issues and are scared to get involved again with someone on that kind of a level. It could also mean there are many people in your life who don't want you to be with that person, or are pressuring you to be with someone else. This kind of dream could be an indicator to stand up for what you believe you should be doing.
[edit] How seriously should you take your dreams?
Not every dream carries a sign with it. Our subconscious is a very powerful tool that can trick us into thinking different things. A dream journal can help you keep track of what dreams you're having and how consistently they happen.
