[edit] History of Superstitions

Superstitions probably came about as a way for people who did not know anything about science to explain the world and what happens in it. Most of the old, common superstitions first started out as a way to ward off evil spirits. However, later in the years superstitions were more about having good or bad luck. Some of the superstitions that people believed were outrageous, and highly unlikely, while others made some kind of sense. One explanation for the outrageous ones is that something happened frequently in a village after something else, so they began to think that the first event caused it even though it was a coincidence.
