Indigo children

The idea of indigo children has taken over the psychic world. Many people believe that most children today are a new kind of child- the indigo child. These children are supposed to have dark indigo auras rather than the usual colors for most people. These blue children are characterized by high sensitivity to the psychic world and the world around them, characteristically low self-esteem, the desire to make a difference in life, and the dislike of following authority. These children were first discovered in the indigo children book "Understanding Your Life through Color," by Nancy Ann Tappe. Since then there have been many different books covering the subject, all from explaining the needs of the blue children, to relaxing them, to understanding them.

[edit] A list of some books about indigo children

There are many different indigo children book types, and the list is added to nearly every day. People like to write about the blue children mainly because it is neat to imagine that a new kind of human is emerging from the world today. It is also nice to have a guide to the sensitive children that the indigos can be. The original indigo children book is, of course, "Understanding Your Life through Color," by Nancy Ann Tappe, but many other books about indigo children have been published since.

Some helpful books in dealing with indigo children:

  • Edgar Cayce on the Indigo Children
  • Understanding Psychic Children, by Peggy Day and Susan Gale
  • THE INDIGO CHILDREN - The New Kids Have Arrived, by Lee Carroll/Jan Tober
  • AN INDIGO CELEBRATION - More Messages, Stories and insights from The Indigo Children, by Lee Carroll/Jan Tober
  • Understanding Your Life through Color, by Nancy Ann Tappe
  • The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children, by Dr. Doreen Virtue

The following is a list of books that are helpful in teaching indigo children:

  • Affirmation Weaver, by Lori Lite
  • A Boy and a Turtle, by Lori Lite
  • The Affirmation Web, by Lori Lite
  • Angry Octopus, by Lori Lite

[edit] Influence of these books on parents and teachers

With the new belief in indigo children, these books have led to a whole subculture of believers in the indigo children. With this new belief of indigo children, such things as indigo children curriculum and schools have spawned. There have also been movies and songs to reference the idea of indigo children, and many fictional books use indigo characters in them as well. Since there is this explanation for children who were at first seen as "problem" children, it has helped parents and teachers see the children not as being a hamper to society, but the new future. This has helped parents and teachers to build up the self-esteem of the children rather than focus on their faults and differences between what "normal" children are supposed to do. Consequently, children are more self-actualized, and better able to handle what life throws at them. This has made classrooms and homes everywhere much better growing environments for the children and adults alike.
