How can I master my Destiny?

Destiny is the belief in a predestined future. In keeping with this ideology a person is said to have an already predetermined future; an invincible force said to write or pre-state events that are destined to occur in their life. Extreme belief in this ideology goes as far as saying that an individual is powerless to change or master destiny. If he is destined to be great he would be great no matter what he does or do not do. This belief in destiny has caused a lot of people to seek a way to see their future. Because they believe that the future has already been written down they try to peep into it so as to know the outcome of events in their lives.

However there are others who still believe in destiny but they take a somewhat different view. They believe in a predestined chart of events but they believe that it could be changed or altered. For these individuals a person can master destiny and change the course of his/her future. Popular phrases such as “your destiny is in your hands” and “as you make your bed so would you lie on it” all show that present actions can alter our tomorrow.

The debate about whether destiny can be mastered or if it is unchangeable is an exhaustive one. Suffice it to say however that life would lose a lot of meaning if we were all puppets playing out a pre-charted script. Many believe that everyone has potential and a destiny to be great. Experience and history are filled with examples of people who took their destiny in their hands and succeeded in fulfilling destiny. This brings us back to the question, how can I master my destiny?

Life is filled with crossroads, major decisions in life that offer different choices; each one leading to different outcomes. Weigh such decisions carefully if you truly want to master destiny. Decisions to drop out or go back to school, decisions to keep or abort a baby, decisions to use or not use drugs, decisions to move or not move, decisions to develop or not develop your skills and talents are examples of crossroad decisions. When you decide, think not only of the now, but see how it helps you master your destiny and take control of your future. While you cannot absolutely know your tomorrow, you can take steps to change your future by acting right now.
