By definition, a horoscope is the prediction made for an individual according to the influence the planets have on him or her, as per astrological principles. The factors that make a horoscope are diverse, but generally, the date of birth usually suffices. These reading would be according to the Sun, Moon, Symbols, etc. and with the help of these as guides, daily, monthly, yearly and lifetime predictions could and would be made. The most common of all are the horoscope signs predictions, which every daily newspaper and regular magazine would carry. Many follow these free daily and weekly horoscopes with religious regularity, but more for entertainment purpose than real serious thought. At the same time, you will find people who are so take in by these predictions, that they are capable of canceling their trip or meeting if they find their horoscope is not auspicious for it on the given day.

While it is true that astrology is an exceptional and exact science, and the planets do influence the lives of each person individually, unless the data is exceedingly accurate, it is highly unlikely that you would get an accurate prediction. Often, if the astrologer is exceptionally good, the generalization would be accurate but interpreting it into your context would take a special talent. Therefore, the free daily and weekly horoscopes should normally be taken with a pinch of salt.
