[edit] The importance of Feng shui living
Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice that involves the placement of objects and the arrangement of spaces in which you spend a lot of time. Most frequently, people learn feng shui to improve their homes or offices. Feng shui is all about creating a balance within an environment to optimize the amount of positive energy (known as Qi, or Chi) in a space. Having lots of positive energy around you is believed to have a very positive effect on many aspects of your life. It is said to improve your wealth, health, relationships, happiness, and overall quality of life. In the same way, too much negative energy can have a negative impact on these areas. That is why the rules of feng shui living are used to try and combat this negative energy.
[edit] The living room is the most important room in the house
It is more than likely that the living room is the room in your house where you, and anyone else who lives in and visits your house, spends the most amount of time. Because of this, it is perhaps more important than anywhere else that this room has the greatest amount of positive energy. The living room is central to your life, and your family’s life, therefore, if you are going to learn feng shui, it should be in this room that you choose to test your newly acquired knowledge first of all.
[edit] Arrangement is the key to Feng shui
The living room is usually the biggest space in your house, and depending on the size of the home you live in, you are likely to have enough room to arrange your furniture in any desired fashion. The arrangement of your furniture is the most important factor in optimizing feng shui living. In the twenty first century, it is now most often that you’ll find sofas in a living room arranged so that they all focus upon the television (or perhaps the fireplace). This usually sees the seats aligned in a L-shape, but this negates good feng shui. People should be the main focus, rather than a television set. In an L-shape, people may find themselves feeling inexplicably uncomfortable. But if seating is arranged so that everyone would face each other when sitting, it would make people more at ease and much happier overall.
[edit] The importance of colors
To learn feng shui is to learn the value of different colors and what they can mean in our lives. There are many different factors to having good, positive feng shui, but colors are perhaps one of the main aspects. Certain colors can evoke certain feelings, and in the living room, the colors red and gold are said to promote feelings of happiness. Just a touch of red and gold in your living room can help to keep away unwanted conflict.
[edit] Hang up a family portrait
According to the ancient Chinese practice, the living room is the room that is most intended for stimulating and improving family relationships. Having a family picture hanging on your wall will help to promote this idea of unity and togetherness.
