Channeling the dead
From DiscoverPsychic
The science and art of channeling dead was not introduced in the early parts of the twentieth century. Even in biblical times, it was already practiced. Take, for example, King Saul. He was used as a channel for Samuel by En-Dor, a well-known spiritist. Sad to say, the former was not all too happy and apparently put final doom to the King and the rest of the family.
[edit] Defining Channeling the Dead
Regardless of the story, though, channeling is chosen to be one of the methods used to communicate with the dead. In here, the channeling medium is a human being where the “spirit” can enter and thus be able to communicate with the living. On the other hand, the channeling body will have to enter the state of altered consciousness before he or she can accept a spirit.
[edit] Describing What Happens during Channeling
Channeling the dead is not a random act. Everyone, especially the channeling medium, should come in prepared. After all, there are possibilities that the spirit can take full control of the body of the person, even that of the channel. If the individual is weak and the spirit is evil or mean, he or she can absolutely wreak havoc.
There are certain rituals that are being followed when trying to communicate with the dead. Others would utter a prayer, while there are those who would create a circle of light, as a form of protection against negative consequences of their actions. Depending on these practices, however, they still channel almost the same way:
- The channel sits with the audience. The channel can either be very easy to spot, as he or she is in the center of the circle, or not, because he or she goes together with the audience.
- The audience will start to recite some chants. The chants may be created by a person of higher authority, and the rest will just simply follow, or it can be a well-known chant that has been utilized by older generations. The most important thing here is the chant is said loud and clear. It should also express the willingness of the group to talk to a particular spirit.
- The channel enters into a trance state. While the rest of the people are chanting, the channel may start to enter into a state called trance. He is not completely unconscious. It’s just that he is in a semiconscious condition and is open to “receive” or be a guide for the spirit. He or she may suddenly move in a jerky motion or, if he or she is sitting on a chair, suddenly slump over.
- The channel develops a different personality. The channel will then move and speak according to the frequency of the spirit. This means that the spirit will be the one who will control the movement and manner of speaking of the channel. He or she can now answer questions of the audience, talk about a pressing matter or unresolved issues, or even heal or teach how to cure a certain illness.
Normally, when channeling is over, the channel does not have any recollection on what happened. This could be because he or she is a deep unconscious state. Nevertheless, others are already veterans and can already control themselves during channeling the dead.
